As a Philly wedding photographer, I’ve explored endless lavish locations for engagement sessions. And let’s be honest, I couldn’t ask for a more perfect area to search! From the beautiful parks to the center city, Philadelphia has it all! But when Nicole & Mike told me they wanted to explore a greenhouse, I knew exactly where to take them for the session of their dreams. We had to plan a Longwood Gardens engagement session!

Built by Pierre du Pont, Longwood Gardens has simply stunning conservatory, “Italian” water garden, and 600-foot flower garden walk. When I first discovered Longwood Gardens my bff had visited and came home raving about it. I knew right away that I had to bring a gorgeous couple and my camera here ASAP for a beautiful engagement session! And this magnificent spot, especially in the summer, was the perfect backdrop for Nicole & Mike’s love story! While I’m sure Nicole & Mike could take incredible photos in high school gym, a setting like this one sure didn’t hurt!

And, what a gorgeous day!!! Welllll, I mean, it started off a beautiful, overcast day with a nice breeze. Then about halfway through our session, the sky got REALLY, REALLY dark! So, we high-tailed it from the waterfall to the conservatory… and barely made it! The skies opened up, the wind whipped! It was a crazy storm! So we continued our session inside the conservatory, which never disappoints anyway.

After the storm was over, back outside we went! You’d never even know a storm whipped through though! I mean the skies were beautiful, it cooled off a bit, and we got some amazing images!

And let’s talk about the way they dressed to complement the location. I always advise couples to look up images of their session location beforehand to help with choosing outfits, and I send all my couples a “What to Wear” guide. Nicole’s dresses were absolutely perfect and Mike’s navy pants beautifully completed the look!

Finding the perfect spot to take couples’ photos isn’t always easy, but you’d better believe this Philly wedding photographer will be planning another Longwood Gardens engagement session very soon! Congratulations, Nicole & Mike on your engagement, and I can’t wait for the next step 😉

Let’s take a look at all the beautifulness that happened, that one summer day…
